From In-house DeSigner to creating your own brand & finding your artistic voice

ARTIST SPOTLIGHT

I did my first video interview with my friend Jayne Branchflower. We chatted all about her amazing design career to date & how she went from designing for companies like Laura Ashley Designs to freelancing & finding her own creative voice

Let me introduce...

Jayne Branflower

Jayne Branchflower is a surface pattern designer and Illustrator based in Bellingen, Australia where she is surrounded by nature and its organic patterns, colours and textures which feed her creativity and imagination.

After graduating from the textile degree program at R.M.I.T University (Melbourne) she has nearly 15 years of industry experience under her belt. Before kicking off her freelance career a few years ago she gained extensive experience working in textile studios across Melbourne, Laura Ashely (UK), textile mills (India) and most recently Warwick Fabrics in Melbourne.

Jayne’s design process begins with initial pattern and colour trend research taking inspiration from fashion, travels and her favourite blogs and websites. With this inspiration she then generates original yardage patterns and placements prints, combining hand drawn and painted techniques with computer aided design.

Jayne has freelanced and licensed her designs to a number of clients including TJ Max, Kmart, Target, Nerida Hansen, Myhouse, Dunelm, Charles Parsons and many more.
