7 self care tips for staying on track to big goals

if we don’t look after ourselves & practice self care then we can get burnt out and not achieve our goals.

Here are some of my ways to look after myself while trying to focus on achieving big goals.

1

 Treat yourself

Treating yourself to a reward for your hard work can work wonders for motivation whether to achieve a goal or the stepping stones of a big goal. It also can be super nice if it’s something relaxing & rejuvenating like a massage or facial.

2

go outside

Stepping away from the computer & going outside for some fresh air & sunlight can clear your head, even 5 minutes can make a world of difference to your productivity.

3

drink more water

Drinking 3L of water a day is not only good for your body its also good for your mind as helps you focus clearly. I think of this could be my NUMBER ONE self-care act.

4

Exercise

We all know why this is good for us, moving your body even if it a short 20 minute walk around the block, can have huge benefits. I know when I come back from a walk I have a new sense of claim and stillness. There is something about being alone with my thoughts and the quietness away from the chaos of family life & work that can give me a new perspective on my work and clarity on my next steps to achieve my goals.

5

Tidy up

Ok so I know what your thinking, tidying up is not self care! Well it can be. When I stop working and make time for this in my busy schedule it creates a huge change in the way I feel & my productivity. It helps create a fresh & clear mind. So I firmly believe in creating a workspace that you find inspiring & spending the time to make it tidy & organised.

6

NO Brief

So sometimes self care can come in many forms and this one is my creativity self care tip. I like to sometimes work or to create something with no brief, planned outcome or collection in mind. It is not only fun but freeing. I just draw or paint without even knowing what I am going to paint. Sometimes these doodles turn into beautiful patterns & sometimes they go in the bin or sit in my draw but it’s just about letting go & having fun.

7

REST

Giving yourself permission to rest is so important to staying on track to achieving your goals. This is a journey not a race & you are good to no-one if you burn yourself out. When we are tired, anxious or burnt out the creativity doesn’t flow. So taking a day or two off can do wonders.
